Hi Calman...You are spot on with your diagnosis.. I found the ho/lo was not fully engaged. as you said, it can be "sticky" in shifting between hi/lo. that was the problem. One of those little tricks I have learned. the gears are quite sticky on very cold days before she gets warmed up. Proper fluids in it tho, but 40 below is brutal. needs a coolant heater and a good charge to start it then.
