Here in Ohio, we have grocery stores, where be can buy the meat already cut and wrapped in a nice package.
I'll hafta look up one of them there 'grocery stores'. I seen male hogs cut...........but never wrapped. Do they just wrap 'em in sheets to take 'em out on the town? I did here tell of you city slickers putting sweaters on 'pet pigs'..........:) ;)

I mainly just make sausage, and my 28 year old #12 hand grinder that I hooked a pulley and old dryer motor on make short work of a hog. I purchased the funnels, (and most recently a meat mixer) and just buy casings and seasonings and do it myself.

Well from your title, I thought you'd be runnin' that grinder with your tractor's PTO.;) I think it's great that you do all that yourself. If I had a young family, I can see me doing something similar, but my meat consumption has gone way down since I turned 60.

Ut oh...........I only have 8 years til I quit butchering............And I just started doing it myself last year:)

And although I thought about a PTO driven grinder..............my wife kinda frowned on the idea of parking the Massey in the dining room:laughing:
, I did park my motorcycle in the living room years ago though.

Nice ! From a fellow sausage maker, you should try a Louisiana boudin...very tasty ! You can find recipes on line but it's basically pork, rice, green onion, n spices...great on the grill...

Being a city slicker all my life, I still just want to pretend all the meat comes from the backroom at the store.

That reminds me of the woman that called into a radio station.

She said hunters and farmers are bad, they should just go to the store to buy their meat, so that no animals are harmed.
