Anyone know of a real butter you can get at the local food store? Some say butter, but all have an ingredient like conolla oil or something added. Years ago butter used to be sweet and really added flavor. Now it tastes more like a lubricant.

Ok, seriously this time. Guessing not many remember the "Parkay" commercials.

Average grocery stores out here carry reall butter. Regular or sweet, and even unsalted. Seems to me "Land O Lakes" is one brand.

Just looked in the fridge; we have "Challenge" brand, and Lucerne. I think Lucerne is a kinda local brand.

I've got land O Lakes & Braum's sweet cream unsalted butter in my fridge.
Even Sam's club sells salted sweet cream butter by the pound here.
Land O Lakes also sells a "spreadable" or "whipped" butter - that's still all natural, no canola oil or other plastic wanna-bees...

Real butter is easy to find around here, I can't imagine it being hard to find anywhere. I was friends with our frat's milkman in college and used to meet him at a local bar on Friday's after work for a few beers. Most nights he'd leave before me and almost every time I'd find a pound of butter under my windshield wiper when I left.

Join the Navy! Thanks to a WI congressman, Navy could only serve real butter.

Don't think the Navy would want any part of me with my health problems and age mjarrels. LandOLakes doesn't taste the same as it did years ago. Never tried Braums. I'll pick some up next time I'm there. Alot of brands say real butter, but you'de never know it by the taste.

Some things have definitely changed over the years. Buttermilk is one. I think what they now sell as buttermilk is just sour milk! I remember buttermilk with actual flakes of butter in it. Yogurt used to taste different, too. It had a tang to it that is now missing. On the other hand, my taste buds are no longer what they used to be either!

You remember when Butter milk had the foam on the top. Much the same for the Real Butter, it just doesn't happen anymore.

Do Parkay or Margirine!

What you get as Buttermilk now is a cultured product. It ain't the same product as came out of the butter churn back when.:D

We use margarine for two reasons; it's cheap and it's spreadable.:D

But I do buy the Land O' Lakes butter to use in a number of recipes when cooking.

We still have a family run dairy that sells their own products locally instead of selling the milk to a larger company. I just noticed they are selling European butter aka higher fat butter. We have bought their butter but I can't really tell the difference between it and Land O Lakes.

Now their whole milk is a different story! Its whole. Maybe past whole. I have seen cream on top! :D

See if there are any local diaries selling to the public.

Later,
Dan
