Buy a tractor where the dealer is \"no good\"

I want to go and take a look at a CK30. It seems to be the correct size for me. A big factor in my decision is purely ergonmics. My wife's leg legth from her knee to her heel is too short for a Mahindra. She likes the JD. It had a good adjustable seat.

Im leaning towards the Kioti. The dealer in my area.. Let's just say that I haven't heard anyone ever saying good things about him.

Do I buy a tractor from someone I dont like?

If I choose to trailer past him and get a Kioti elsewhere... What am i getting into?

Will I get "burned" if I have a warranty issue?

I plan to be able to do routine maintenance myself. But could he refuse to work on my tractor if I didn't get it from him?

All speculation at this point. I haven't talked to the man... but I'm biased because I have never heard anything good about him.

Thoughts? Opinions? Guesses?

THanks
JP

Just go to the dealer and see how he treats you. If he is no good, then move on...but I can tell you that if he is "no good" to you then you will always have to take your tractor to the dealer you bought it from, as he will probably not warranty stuff he doesn't sell.

JP - not sure exactly of the dealer you are talking about, but if it is who I think it is, he is not a "warm and fuzzy guy". I bought a CK20HST from him several months ago. Got a great deal as far as price, answered any questions I had, and really wants to be a help to anyone who buys a tractor from him. Got a more than fair price for the 50 hour service with pick up and delivery.( reminds me to call and have it done). This guy is a typical REAL MAINER. Dry humor, but willing to help any of his customers. Goes to battle for you with the manufacturer when "stuff aint just right". Respect his time off when he is closed for business. He will treat you right. You will like him when you get to know him a little. Give him a try. Won't hurt.

JP For what it's wort [getting a new tractor] the best advice would be for you to go and meet him . Only you will know if you want to do business with him. I think I know who your talking about Personally I would purchase from this guy . cag

Well. I did talk to him on the phone. He was a bit gruff at first.. But I didn't mind him.

I was going by where I THOUGHT his place was. But I didn't see it. Maybe my memory is bad.

Funny part was, when I was looking for his phone number. He isn't listed on the kioti site as a dealer anymore.

When I talked to him. He said he had two CK30s but no loaders. Seemed a bit miffed with the manufacturer. I will give him a look when I am ready to buy.

Gotta have my wife sit on one to make sure she can reach the pedals. She cant on a mahindra.

Go talk to Dick at Batchelder Sales in Lebanon, Maine.
He has at least one of each model on his lot.
