Wouldn't doubt if the mortar and maybe even the brick has asbestos in it.
In that application and for that age it should be suspected of having some asbestos content, wonder if it was tested? Probably was, before they could get the ok to demo it.

The stack cost $800,000 to demolish, it was 230 feet high and built in 1948. No indication as to whether is had asbestos or how much it cost to build back when it was new.

I would almost guarantee it had some asbestos in it, for sure it had to be suspected, so it must of been tested ?

Everything had asbestos in it back then, especially a heating plant.

Did they implode it ? or take it down from the top?

Dang, I could start importing bricks from the old country, just take down some old houses - guaranteed to be several hundred years old:)

Speaking of old houses - check this out.

The guy wanted a nice old cellar for his wine collection - so he bought the house and did a complete restoration. The house is on record since 1590 - but it was built on even older foundation.
