Hello,

I am new the forum and am in the market for my first tractor (yay!)

I need something that is heavy and good for pushing snow as well as mowing. I found a used GR2100 with a hydraulic blade and chains for $6500. It has 1141 hours on it but the dealer says the guy that owned it was good with maintenance and takes care of his stuff. I am doing a little research online and it seems that this tractor has a multitude of problems and I could end up on the hook for a large transmission repair bill. The dealer will put a new glide steer cable on it before I take delivery. Should I buy this tractor and hope there are no issues or look for something else? My dream is a BX series but they are bit out of my price range with loader/mmm/plow.

Thanks in advance,
Jake

If you want BX series, you should save your money and wait until you can find BX without a loader.

I see BX 1800's for sale with asking price starting just under $4000

My dealer doesn't stock GRs and doesn't encourage anyone to buy them. Wait for a BX which are available for this money. In fact my SIL has a BX1500 with 700 hours and MMM deck for sale for $5000 due to moving to a 1 acre yard to a 1/3 acre yard and he needs a new roof. He has dropped price from $6500. It is located in Somerset, Ky. I also just sold a front, not hydraulic, snowplow for $300 that would have worked on any BX and they are available for that price range for front or back.

I decided pass on the GR, instead paid off my snowmobile and am getting a brand spankin new BX1880 with the loader, hydraulic snow plow, and mower :D. They gave me a few rebates for buying more than one attachment and 0% financing. Payment is less than the sled was (toys are so dang expensive lol). Shouldn't need to worry about tractor things (besides using it) for a longggg time. Thanks for helping me out.

I think you will be very happy, and you'll find in addition the lower payments, the BX won't depreciate like a snowmobile!

I agree totally.
Paying less money up front isn't always saving money.
Paying several thousand dollars and then having maintenance issues (Additional costs and down time) is also a downer.
