I would want that big of a tractor if I had to deal with that driveway and that county road. We also don't know where he lives it could be a lot of snow. Cab tractor all the way.

I can tell you that for years I never had a cab tractor and I would have to time when I got out there to keep from freezing my @$$ off.

Now that we have a Massey Ferguson with a cab it doesn't matter. I even do the neighbors for fun. I promise you, a cab turns a snow event from drudgery and Dread to enjoyment.
Bingo, the bigger tractor is more appealing mostly because of the cab. The greater lift capacity will be nice when moving downed trees, and plowing should be made a little easier by the heavier weight. Looking out my window right now at a fresh 6" of snow, cab keeps sounding better and better...

For 10 acres the 5240 is more tractor then you need. What I hear, is your excitement for the bells and whistles of it, there was no mention of it's utility specs. However, there will not be any small monthly payment for a new tractor until there is a market price correction which I anticipate is on the horizon.
Only problem is when does the horizon get here? If you need it now do you wait and hope the price drops? And just like taxes, other than a sale, I never see prices go down. Just the addition of emissions to a tractor raises the price.

Something else that many forget about or just don't consider, TIME. We are not all retired and getting any certain task done in a leisurely time frame is not always convenient. Sure a smaller tractor can get things done most of the time, but how much time is required vs a larger tractor? And there are times when having a larger tractor is simply just to big for the job or space a person has to work with.

I know for myself, I do not care to be working with my smaller tractor when my larger tractor will do the same job 3-4 times faster.
I just don't have the time. When a task needs to be done, I need to get it done as quickly as I can and move on to the next one.

Everyone's situations are different and a lot of the time is seems as though we forget about that.

Just my perspective. ;)

If this is about a cab OP can opt for a smaller cab tractor such as the LX4020. Don't know what his budget is...

OP you're not comparing apples to apples here. What is it that you want? A cab, bigger frame size, more weight? I think you need to go back to the drawing board and determine what you're trying to accomplish. None of us can visit your property and there are infinite amounts of variables involved with picking tractors.

When the manufactures start rolling out the rebates.

Do you really need it or want it?
Well evidently he needs it or he wouldn't be looking for a tractor at all. And when do the rebates roll out? Do you have a definite date or just hoping they will? And what happens if they don't? Now do you wish you bought the older one or just suffer the extra cost?

If the L5240 checks out like you say, and the hours aren’t out of whack, that would be a no brained for me.

I think at some point with the smaller open station tractor, you would be questioning why You didn’t get the heavier cabbed computer free unit.

The L3302 does everything I need it too, except have a cab :). I've received some good advice from friends, I've just been curious what the combined knowledge of this group would offer when confronting the "new vs used-but-more-better" option. Thanks for the feedback.
