BX 2200
Welcome any thoughts on the price of $ 9700 for a BX 2200, 2003 with 192 hours, with a front loader (LA 211). Is this within reason based on age and usage? Looks very clean, found a t JD Dealer. Anyone know what this would have been new?

thanks

Larry from Michigan

If it has the MMM with it, my guess is that new it sold for about $12,500 or so...

Check the price with a new one in your area. Also remember that the new one comes with 0% financing and a 2 year warranty.

I have been told that a good rule of thumb is to start with the original selling price of the used tractor, they subtract 15$ per clock hour and then also subtract for condition.

I have been looking for some time now and I have one close to me for $10k, but it is a 2000 BX2200 w/ FEL and 595 hours on it. I have also seen the same model year around the same hours with a MMM for around $10,500. The deal seems fair...but only you will be able to decide that for yourself.

thanks for the input, I am going ahead with the purchase, so my next questions will likely show up in the owning section. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The only thing I would recommend before you pull the trigger, if you haven't already, is get some quotes from your local Kubota dealer. I had my wife on my **** saying I could only spend $7k on a tractor. After I took her our and showed her what $7k got you, especially if you don't have diesel mechanic in the family, she opened-up to a new purchase.

I had a local dealer in CO qoute me $12,700 for the BX2230 w/FEL, 60" MMM, turf tires, delivered w/ 0% for 36 months. Since you don't know what history you are buying, and you are safe, you may like the piece of mind that comes with a new tractor and a 2 year warranty.

Happy hunting and good luck with your purchase.

I agree with kjd. I couldn't even find any used locally, but after seeing the prices paid for used tractors I went new for the same reasons. My price was about the same for a new BX2230 w/FEL and MMM, and looking at your case, I'm getting two years (2003vs2005), 200 hours, 2 years warranty, and 36 months 0% interest. That is worth the price difference. Tractors aren't like cars where you lose 30% as soon as you drive off the lot -- they really retain they're value.

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame anyone for going used. In my case buying new was the right deal.

Good luck in whatever you decide. In the end you're going to end up with a great tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

WELCOME TO THE FORUM /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif AND I WOULD IMAGINE YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT TRACTORS. so i would assume u have some idea of the cost of different model in your area? HOW you feel about the price is all that is important. But it don't sound to bad /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I tell youy, I thought this tractor purchase was going to be easy, but it isn't. In speaking with the Kubota rep, he told me only 16,000 new Kubota 2230's are sold in this country per year. He may have meant CO alone, but still, it isn't like selling 16 million cars a year. There are very few outlets to buy used tractors throughout the country, and then there is shipping. I could go on, but I will spare you.

Used tractors are hard to find in any area around the country, especially the CUTs and sub-CUTS. It is a very frustrating process to go through, but if you buy new, you understand that the tractor will retain at least 80% of its value...even after 5 years! It more than for itself in the long run to buy new. It's just that there are so many good tractors out there that it is hard to chose.

thanks for your help on this, it's equal to the challenges of car buying, especially for the first time.
