Buying a new tractor, any advice

/ Buying a new tractor, any advice #11
I see, thanks
If you want, you can get a serial # on the sales contract. Have them show you the machine you are getting, then get that serial# on the paperwork before you sign. That way they cant to a switch (not that they would , but just in case).

The things you want to do: Check function on all hydraulic attachments and valves. Check for hydraulic leaks. Check fluid levels on level surface(hydraulic, oil, coolant). Check for lubrication at all grease zerks (I just redid all of mine). Especially check the front axle zerk (often forgotten). Full function check all other settings (lights, brakes, etc).

I think my tractor had 7 hours on it. If it has more than 10 I would request oil and filter be thrown in for the 50 hr. maintenance.

I am going to do this, I am going to make the trip, let them show me the tractor they are selling me, Im gonna have a better go over of the unit. I will record serial number and hours, if the tractor they plan to sell me has excessive hours ( too be honest I think 7 is excessive......) ( 7 hrs of demoing is a LOT of demoing and Im paying 25 thou for a new tractor, not a tractor that has been a guinea pig ) than I will ask for a different tractor.

If they get huffy than I will find another dealer.

I think I may have noticed some minor rust on the tractor they showed me, not trying to be a dick but if Im correct than I will ask for a different unit.

I plan to get a new condition tractor.

I think you will be disappointed if you think this is like a vehicle. It's a tractor. Just trying to prepare you. before you nix the deal the little imperfections might be on all the tractors you look at and you will spend a lot of time and be in the same position a year from now, only a little rust won't bother you too much after tractor starvation.

Very true, plus the majority of tractor buyers are not going to care about minor appearance issues. That said, I am not one of those buyers! My last 2 tractors the dealer threw in a can of spray paint at my request. I spent some enjoyable time going over them with a fine tooth comb, with the knowledge that I would be doing a better touch up job than the angry mechanic or salesman would be doing.

No way am I gonna make my new tractor look new again right out of the gate.

I'm paying more than I have too with the local dealer, I'm gonna expect a nice tractor.

I understand it will get damaged thru use but it will be my use

With that said I'm sure the one I looked at will prob. be fine.

If I bought a new tractor I would buy one I didn't have to add DEF. I bought a Mahindra.

You have to get up into the 75+ hp tractors before you even have to think about DEF.

So, doesn't apply to any tractors we're talking about here.
