I got the Power Shuttle, just not a hydro guy. Also wanted the M model as the nicer creature comforts and options are nice as you get older. This is my first tractor, probably my last.....I wanted to do it right.
I agree that the power shuttle type of transmission is extremely durable and a treat to work. I think you did right. I've seen Fwd/Rev power shuttle sometimes coupled with a foot clutch for range shifting, and other times with either a torque converter or fluid clutch power shift for shifting between forward gears within a range... or both. There are lots of power options today on the basic gear type transmission.
The one option I've used more than any other on our tractor is the Skid Steer Quick Adapter (SSQA) for the front end loader. It allows us to swap between several buckets or none at all.
