Thank you guys for the insight. I suppose that most of the items that have rust would have rusted no matter what - kind of like rusty brake rotors on new cars that sit in lots. The dealer is pricing this probably $3k under what a new one fresh from the factory.

If you'll be keeping it outside in the elements, it probably doesn't really matter. I keep mine under a roof, though, so I really didn't want to start out with a rusting/ faded/ cracked-seat machine. Plus, it would just really bother me to pay over $20K for a "new" machine that is rusting/ faded/ cracked-seat.

I bought my CK30 from Jeff (BTI) and it was sitting for a while (over a year?) when Jeff had it transfered in. Other than some minor scratches and some issues w/ bubbling paint on plastic turn signal housing it was a good looking machine. BTW, he told me about and sent photos of all the issues before I even drove down to look at it. Another great thing about it I also did not feel worried about scratching it up a little when I first got it.

Listen to Jeff... He knows his stuff.

On the cash discount thing, I just got a quote yesterday on a 2010 Kioti DK55c with cab, 551 loader, and bale spear for $33,600 if I use the low-interest financing. However, cash price is $3450 less, for a total of $30,150. pretty good savings for paying cash.

He also has a 2009 identical tractor for $1000 less. It looks just like the newer tractor, but the 2009 has a cassette instead of CD, but dealer said he would swap out the stereo for the one with the CD for no charge.

Jeff, in what region are you located ? The quote you talk about being about what I got for the same DK55 without cab, I'd guess you're in the states, but we never know, maybe you're in Canada and found a really good price

I am in Tennessee. However, the dealer about 30 miles away in Clarksville was about $4350 higher. Also, the Clarksville dealer only offered me $13,500 for my trade (JD 5205). He did not have a cab tractor Kioti in stock, and stated that he does not keep any of them around, but could order one for me.

I drove about 90 miles to Metropolis, IL to Little Tractor. James Little went out of his way to accommodate me. Very helpful, and had a great price. Gave me his cell phone number to call on Sunday if I had any questions, and left the DK unlocked for me to look at on Sunday. He also paid more for my trade, without seeing it. I emailed pictures to him. Little Tractor probably had at least 50 new Kioti tractors on site. They have more, but had taken several to the IL state fair.

I bought the 2009 DK55c, saving another $1000. It looks perfect, just like the 2010s on his lot. The 2009 had a FM/AM/Cassette instead of the AM/FM/CD, but James traded out the cassette for the CD version, no charge. He also filled the rear tires, no charge, and is delivering my DK55c tomorrow morning to Tennessee, no charge, and picking up my JD. Loved the Deere, but I want a cab.

I highly recommend Little Tractor. I had never met them until last Friday, but had heard Trace Atkins advertising for them on the radio.

i noticed this past week a lot that has several of the Yellow/Black Yanmar/Cub Cadet tractors that have been sitting out for quite a while. Looks like that bright yellow maybe doesn't take the sun real well, it looked pretty faded.

regarding the original question, i'd be looking for a fresh oil change, but might run it for a few years and trade before the warranty was gone...
