Buying a side by side

   / Buying a side by side #51
Took my Kobota 500 thru some paces this weekend. Started out deer hunting but my brother-in-law short stopped me and asked me to help him move some trees that had fallen in the deer woods and blocked some access roads. Hooked the machine to a couple of 40-50 footers and drug them deep in the woods out of the way. Put the machine in low-four drive and it walked. A couple of times it just spun, got traction and kept on going. A couple of times got across a couple of trees and I thought I had high centered it for sure. Put in reverse and just backed back over the logs and went about my business. I was truly impressed. That sucker will climb a tree if it can get traction. There have been several comments about the Kubota's weight, but let me say that was a distinct advantage pulling the tree butts. I can see where in real bad mud it might sit down and get high centered, but you will have to let you conscious be your guide. It never hesitated or acted like I did not have enough power. I can only imagine how strong the diesel engine makes this machine. Wish I could have afforded the diesel.
