12 gears forward, 12 gears in reverse, synchro shuttle. A compact tractor gear transmission that should be able to creep.

I assume no foot clutch.

It does have a clutch...

4 Gear and 3 Ranges. It will creep. It's a very common transmission.

Yep 12x12. 1st and 2nd in low are definitely creeper gears... I can feel my beard growing...:D. In low range, you can just use the hydraulic shuttle shift without using the clutch, in medium and high range, using the clutch is definitely easier. For loader work, most of the time I am in low range, either 3rd or 4th gear. With soft piles, medium range 1st or 2nd is still ok.

When I just cut the fields, med. range and 3rd was the ticket... there are definitely enough selections for sure!

The reason I primarily went with gear was to avoid the HST PTO HP loss.... basically 2 HP. I was initially worried about not getting the HST, but it was unfounded. The gear tractor has worked out fantastic for me.

Yes, definitely a clutch (on the left) and also split brakes (on the right).

I don't think that tractor have a Hydraulic Shuttle shift, just a regular mechanical Shuttle shift. At least it doesn't show up on the website for the specs.

Shifting without the clutch won't do any good on the syncronizers of the transmission.

I think those 2 HP at the PTO difference, on paper, between Geared and HST, turns out to be more in the real world application. Let's say you're mowing uphill, the will HST bog down much easier/faster and will eat much more HP for the HST than the Geared, which will carry on.

I would have to say, 9.5 times out of ten, I do use the clutch. When I was discussing the shuttle shift with the dealer, he did tell me it was hydraulic, but not like the true hydraulic “ power shift “ on the larger machines. He also recommended using the clutch for “ full motion “ change of direction. When just inching forward or backward, you can just feather the shift lever (not actually moving it into the notch) and the tractor will just move ever so slight. Makes it really easy to hook up implements or the BH.

Hey guys,

Looking at buying a tractor for my place. I have a few acres that I need to move a bunch of dirt around and then going to make some pasture area, and garden areas I have about 1000' of gravel dirt driveway. Winter time will be moving snow.

My question is I'm looking for operational feedback on some tractors with FEL.

I have a list of possible candidates all prices after tax and financing charges come out at around 20k +/- 1k.

Branson 2400H 21k dealer 10min away.

Kubota B2601H 20k. Dealer 30min away.

Kioti CK2510H 19.5k Dealer 45min away.

TYM T264H 20k. Dealer 1hr away.

LS XJ2025H 18.5k. Dealer 1hr away same dealer as the TYM.

I think my short list is either the Kioti #1 or the TYM #2.

All the dealers have been responsive and helpful and have been around for a while with the exception of the Branson.

We have several JD, Massey, and case dealers within 30-45min also. Some are carrying the above brands.

The JD, Massey and case are about 5-10k more for a similar tractor.

Any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated. Mostly just looking for experience with the different models. I know dealers are important and that has been factored into my short list.

Thanks!

You might want to check the Kioti CK2610, you get 3 ranges, more weight, better loader for not much more $$$ when compared against the CK2510.

Did you look at the LSMT225e? Much more tractor / weight, more suitable for what you describe doing. Another plus right now is LS just announced financing at $0 down, 0% interest, 84 months.

Actually the financing is 0% for the first 90 days then it will incur interest. It's in the fine print.

Apparently that deal went away on the 28th.... it was no payments for 90 days, 0% interest. Now it is just “ low rate “ financing unfortunately. The other sneaky thing was “ free loader OR 0% financing “. So you are basically paying the interest when you “ buy “ the loader.

They are still offering the free loader though.
