Buying a used tank for diesel storage. Had Kerosene in it... Is that OK?

My manual for my LS recommends when outside temperatures are less than 5 deg F, to run a mixture of 80% diesel and 20% kerosine to address paraffin gelling. Above 5 deg winter blend diesel is the recommendation.

Nah, just use Dawn dish soap and water. Rinse well, let dry. No problem.

I'd rather have a very minimal amount of kerosene in my fuel than water.

Winter fuel here is just summer fuel cut with different percentages of kerosene if you go far enough N. it's probably straight kerosene.

Have another question the lol

If I get one of those plastic drums, or barrels....what would be the best way to clean it out?
Usually they have soap, or canola oil or a food product of some sort.

It may be easier to get one of these and put a hand pump for drum on it. I plan to keep it indoors.
I made this with a dual action pump (pumps forward and reverse) from Harbor Freight, and a $5 barrel from a carwash soap wholesaler. It had been cleaned before it was returned to him and looked immaculate inside.

Oh one more detail: I've filled this with 'farm' (untaxed) diesel several times but last time the clerk looked out and said I can't sell you fuel for a container that wasn't made, and rated, for highway transport of fuel. He recognized it because he has a carwash next to his gas pumps. I had to go back with 5 gallon jugs and suck the fuel from those into this tank. Even so that's easier than fueling the tractor from a 5 gallon tank shoulder high at my age.

Here's a post where I described this in more detail.

To be clear about Kerosene; It has a few different names, some that come to mind are #1 ULSD, Jet-A, Heater oil. There are some minor viscosity/distillation differences but for a diesel engine especially in the winter you could run straight Kerosene and be fine. When making #2 ULSD about 20% of the blended fuel is Jet-A. More for winter grade diesel. One big difference would be the amount of sulfur that Jet fuel has, much higher since that cut does not go through a de-sulfurizing unit. That will be changing in the near future with more strict EPA guidelines.
#1 ULSD is 15 PPM or less sulfur fuel. It, as a single feed stock (jet fuel) goes through the de-sulfurizing unit.

California...

Love it. I can't find any cheap drum pumps over here. I have to order from amazon.com. There are a few I might try.

I think a 55 gal drum up here is btwn 10-30 CDN $.... so about $5 USD lol.

Thanks again

Okay, I see what I did there.

I should have quoted Post #7 (which I now have, above) to make sure it was clear which question I was answering. Yes, if it's kerosene, just fill it and keep on going. No problem, no cleaning required.

But if it had food type stuff in it, that would need to be washed out well.
