So, I have a small soapbox to which I will stand on. If we want to make America great we need to keep the money in America. We can try to legislate or tax, but this is not possible in a world economy. At the end of the day it comes down to just buying American.

ABC has been on a series that I found interesting on buying and building with only American made product. The house build is especially interesting.

Not sure if you guys and gals saw this but here is a link with a heck of a lot of interesting articles. While I kinda blew this christmas, the wife and I are already making changes we didn't think possible till we saw this.

All the best

Interestingly, lots of companies not mentioned like "I did it" in Tecumseh, Michigan, the manufacturer and locally owned of custom steering colums and acessories, made on premises by local employees.

Or Waukesha Engine Company in Waukesha, Wisconsin. They make industrial powerplants, or Kohler Engine in Kohler, Wisconsin

Or how about Carpenter Technologies, the only domestic producer of stainless in the country... and the list goes on.

Ms Sawyer needs to revise and revisit her synopsis...

However Subzero uses compressors made across the pond and they are mentioned...

Like I said, interesting but not factual.

But it's a start. As they say. 100 people change their buying practice creates jobs in America.

I have been saying this for quite a while now, I also posted a thread that was to myself the same thing. I make sure I purchase 10% of all goods, that are American made. ALL of my inpliments are american made, just not the tractor. I don't think America produces any tractors anymore, (someone correct me if I am wrong), the EPA and green activist have made it too hard to manufacture anything. But because of this our drinking water and food stuffs are safer than other countries, ( I hope) we may have to ask Al Gore this question:confused:

I agree with you 100 percent. I use craftsman hand tools in my service truck for maintaining equipment at work. At Christmas my wife gets me to pick out several sets an I get one ot 2. I was appalled to see haow many tools they sell are now made in taiwan or china. It pisses me off badly. I sent an email to them but its probably like peeing in the ocean. I looked at a black fininished ratchet and it was taiwan and some wrenches were china. I looked at some allen wrenches and the to were china. I just wont buy them

I had a sales man give me a pitch on the quality and I kinda vented on him.

When are you going to sell your Japanese made Kubota's and buy an American brand of tractor?

I don't think America produces any tractors anymore, (someone correct me if I am wrong),

CAT announced that they were moving some production BACK to the U.S.

Probably the first step is to stop shopping at Walmart :( Unfortunately, there are not many alternative choices around here. Our addiction to low prices has helped the loss of American jobs.

I am an amateur radio operator and I'm getting a new transceiver for Christmas. Made in America! That was one of the reasons I went with that brand.

I did hear a prediction recently that within 25 years the U.S. will be producing over 50% of it's oil and the rest would come from Mexico and Canada, none from OPEC :) Hope it's true.

OTOH, perhaps our Chinese addiction fosters peace. China would probably not start a long war with us knowing that we would renounce the debt they hold and that we would cease buying their goods.

Well, it's true that those pesky pollution regulations have driven some companies overseas, but the real reason for moving out is the cost of labor. We Americans don't understand that we have to start living in metal shacks on the out skirts of town, and work for $2 a day so that the companies who benefit from what the USA has to offer will decide to bring back manufacturing. I also agree we should all buy more American made goods. However until our own U.S. companies are made to pay a price for exporting American jobs over seas you can wish in one hand, and you know what in the other.
