Buying DK45 HST

From my research there are no tariffs for ag equipment, but you do have to pay a $100 fee for A/C. Of course there is Federal GST(5%) as well and provincial taxes too.

For tractors that are made in Korea there is a 6% tariff at the border if you are importing from the US. It is on the canada customs website.

But when i am ready to purchase my kioti, I will still be going state side.

The cost of the tractor+tariff+exchange rate+gst it is still cheaper to buy it from Wallace, oh I mean the US :p

It is the place of final assembly that matters. For Kioti (and Kubota) it is the USA.

I would try to find a local dealer to do business with you and give you a sensible price compared to what you can find in the USA after the exchange rate. I'd be willing to pay a bit more to a local dealer but at the end of the day, there is a limit to the extra I'd pay for the same product. Way I see it, I would be willing to give them the benefit of the hauling charges you would have to pay for example to make a local sale.

After that, there is no difference. The tractors are the same. You will pay the same sales taxes at the border that you would have at a dealers store. If you have a good and responsive dealer that is remote, that is better than a crappy and unresponsive dealer that is local.

28k is WAY too much for a 300hr old machine. If I recall correctly, I think I was quoted in the low to mid 20s for a DK40SE. Personally I think that the DK40SE is the better deal as you get the 401 loader with either of them. Just depends what you plan on using it for. I would not see the PTO difference in my applications.

pjf,

I could be wrong. But when I spoke with customs there was no tariff due to the fact that the tractor was manufactured in the USA and it was considered AG.

As canoetrpr pointed out - I would give the local dealership an opportunity to quote...
Of course you are closer to Maine than I am so there may be a deal. I would still check out the farm show coming your way... ya never know... a good deal could be had. I will be attending the show if weather permits(wishful thinking - I need to get and hide a band saw mill!).

Good luck.

Just retired as a math teacher so I'd like to clearify my conversion. I used the market value this AM which was $1 Canadien = $.80 US or $1 US = $1.23 Canadien. I divided 21500 by .80 to get 26875. (or 1.23 times 21500 - gets a little different answer because of rounding) The 25800 comes if US $1.00 = $1.20 Canadien or $1.00 Canadien equals $.8333 US. Also I predict that there would be costs at the border. I paid when I bought in Canada and crossed into NYS. ($1000 value but don't remember what I paid)
Sorry its just the teacher in me.
