Buying Finish Mower - 6ft vs. 5ft.

Thanks for the final consideration... Ya no problem..my acreage is for the most part flat. I have one portion that has a slope but have that planted in native grasses and prairie flowers and some trees, somewhat growing wild so am not cutting it and I can go around it for the other portion of my property....PS: I am in Nebraska, so most ground is fairly flat...

The only other consideration that I would throw in is "Do you plan to trailer the tractor / mower combination?"

I was in the same boat that you are in and went with a 5 foot mower because I could not find a 6 foot mower that would fit on my 6.5'x16' trailer (I did find one 6 foot rear discharge that was only 1" too wide, though).

Having said all of that, let me add that I just found a pretty good deal on a used 6 foot rear discharge mower. It has two flat tires so I have not been able to really test it yet. I plan to use it most of the time and take the 5 foot mower when I have to go somewhere else with the tractor.

I don't plan to trailer, at least have no immediate need...

I do have a 5X10 foot trailer, single axle and has a 3500 lb. rated capacity, but it has solid sides. The length of the tractor is (9'10") and the width would prohibit even a 5 ft. deck at this point as I would presume it would acutally be wider that 5 ft. overall width.... My tractor is appx. 54 inches wide, so it is a tight fit to begin with..

I guess if I need to transport it will take two trips.... so hopefully I won't have to go far.... Thanks for the additional thoughts.!!
