Buying New MX vs M series

Congrats on the new tractor. I use my M9540 in the timber a lot. I never notice it's size.

Welcome to TBN.

Too late to give any advice, but I would have recommended what you bought. We use an M8540HDCC, same size as Richard's (ovrszd) and they are surprisingly nimble with proper use of brakes. Only limitation on ours is cab height.

Thanks guys. After using it this weekend, I agree the larger tractor hasn稚 prevented access anywhere I wanted to go. I didn稚 go with a cab between price and gear of busting glass when working in the woods, but thinking that sure would have been nice haha. Building a top for it now. Didn稚 like the flimsiness of the kubota top. I値l be searching posts for recommendations there too. Was thinking of tying it back to the loader supports with front posts to stiffen the front of the top.

If you're gonna do that, make it strong enough to withstand a substantial hit from above. The front supports should be angled to guide limbs up and over the roof. A FOPS build with limb risers has been on my list for too long.

I think I did a thread about my canopy build. I'll look when I get back in the shop.

Great new tractor and grapple. You will learn to really love its size and maneuverability. I'm 100% Ponderosa pines here and have no trouble getting my M6040 wherever I want.

Sorry, I guess I didn't do a thread. I've got several pics though. If you decide to build one start a thread and pm me so I don't miss it. I'll share my experiences and pics.
