What's the problem with your Workmaster? It regens all the time and you can't get any work done?
It does sound like operator error. Most all those tractors need to be run near full throttle and run using the gears/HST to control speed. The PTO index mark is where it usually needs to run. If what you're doing makes it idle for more than a few minutes, turn it off. Restart when you're ready to go to work.

If that's the case that's exactly why he is looking at pre teir IV tractors.
If was forced to do that every time I use my tractor to keep it working right I would be looking to unload it too.

Have you had issues with the engine on your work master. I know a few people who have had them and had all kinds of issues that were all corrected by taking them to a dealer that actually had good techs. Not all but many dealers just hire anyone who can turn a wrench and that isn’t good when it comes to anything with technology
no issues really.. half the time when it regens it goes into half power. Understanding that whens its cold out (northern MI) it will take longer but usually 40-60 mins. last tine took 3 hrs. Dealership has pretty good techs.

exactly. Have run/worked on diesel trucks (yes… it is a little different) for many yrs. I do understand the process but as DK35vince stated.. it’s a nuisance to have to keep waiting for it, letting it run for 60mins (last time 3hrs). so i for see possible issues in the future that are $$$$$. so thinking to just go with what i know which would be something like a 2003TC35 (with 338hrs). simple, no ecm, emissions, can fix it myself, find parts etc. Plus.. not knowing any better till now… workmaster 37 is actually an LS. nothing wrong with that but..

2016 was about the time everything moved to tier 4 and almost every manufacturer was having issues with emissions. I call that the lost era of compact tractors.

I can understand if regen is taking up to 3 hours...but is that "normal"?

I have an LS and regen lasts about 25 minutes and it does not affect operation. If I had a regen start soon before I was done working for the day, I would park it and let it run. But I have never had a regen in the winter. I doubt I put more than 20 hours on the tractor in the winter so may have just been lucky and not had it happen yet.

I never run at less than 1600 rpm or idle for very long. The part I find to be a PITA is needing to idle for 2 minutes before shutting it down. That is not a DPF issue but due to the turbo.

Hope I have not jinxed myself, but so far, DPF and regen have not been a big deal but then again, I am too ignorant to know better.

I didn't say to shut it off if it begins to regen. I said don't let it idle for long periods. That's what causes the exhaust to accumulate more carbon and clog. Which will cause a regen. You're supposed to run them hard and hot when the regen starts--That's what I hear, I don't own one. A tractor is not an automobile to putz around in high gear. If it's not making noise, you're not driving it right. ;)
