MF GC2410 TLB w/ 60" MMM
Hello All,

I'm currently shopping for a small TLB w/ MMM and have it narrowed down to a GC2410 and a BX24. Both dealerships are within 5 or 6 miles of my home and I really like both machines. The entire backhoe seemed more heavy duty on the MF, but both machines were smooth and well built. I like the financing on MF, but the Kubota was about $800 cheaper. I'm putting the purchase off until Spring, so it will likely come down to a few more test runs on each and which ever dealer can offer me the best deal.

One thing that did come up while I was at a MF dealership, one of the employees indicated that they had just fixed a GC2310 that had the linkage for MMM and the backhoe linkage which had become jammed (even w/ the backhoe removed). Has anyone ever heard of this? I wonder if this was a one time thing or has it happened to anyone else.

I'm assuming when he said the "linkage" was jammed, that would be the 3-pt hitch, correct? Isn't that how the backhoe is attached, via the 3-pt hitch, or is there more to it then that?

The backhoe will be attached to a 4 point mount not to the 3 point hitch.
It's hard to tell what they are talking about without seeing it.
A lot of time customers will do grading work with the mower on and end up running over something a shoving the mower up farther than it was designed to go and that where the problem occurs.

One word of advise...if you can afford to buy now do it.
You will see an average of a 3-8% price increase in the near furture.

Ok thanks for the explanation. That must have been what he was talking about with the MMM being stuck. That was really the only time I heard anyone talking about that specific issue, so I assumed it was not very common.

I'd love to buy now but unfortunately the purchase will need to wait until Spring. However, the most important thing is the wife has approved the purchase of the tractor, MMM, FEL, and backhoe, so now all I have to do is wait (it is going to be a very long winter!!!!). It is also great that she keeps pointing out different projects we can use the TLB for, so I know she is definitely onboard.

JohnnyB-- I believe you'll find that the MF has a slightly larger engine (1135 or so vs. 987cc or thereabouts) which apparently translates into more HP at the PTOs, and at a lower RPM to boot. I'm pretty sure the 2410 has the same engine as the 2310, which is what I have. Check out the numbers...I liked the idea of the lower RPM.

Hi All,
The BOSS just let me buy the 2410 about one month ago. I got the mmm, box blade, tiller, and rear mount snow blower. I believe the response about forcing the mower deck up too far was the problem. On my tractor The mmm lift is just a rod that is linked to the 3pt hitch upper arms. If I am not mowing the mower deck comes off. I too was looking at the bx 24, deere2305, and new holland but ultimately decided on the massey because it just seemed like a better deal with the financing. The massey also had features that I decided I liked; the skid plate for the hydro filter, reverse airflow on the engine, lower engine rpms, heavier rear end castings and steel throughout. I really think I made the right choice, I burn half the fuel I used to with my 16 hp gas garden tractor, I mow in about half the time( 60" deck now instead of a 48" and I don't have to slow down unless it gets too bumpy) it has all the power I need, and I don't get stuck in the woods any more. Get the red tractor you won't be disappointed.

Dont take this the wrong way, but if you can get the red for about the same price as the orange one, buy the red one...I did all of the research...I am not biased but I was in the same position a year and half ago and I bought the red one, and it was a good deal all the way around.

I wouldn't have a 3P BH.
