When I did the 50 hour service on my BX, I was doing fine until I went to re-install the lower engine shroud. Wrestled with it just a little bit and broke the headlight assembly, grrrr. I glued it up real nice and a few weeks later whilst mowing it broke again so I bit the bullet and spent $120 for a new one. Fast forward ahead a couple of years--time for the 200 hour service. All tasks completed successfully (including changing the nuisance fuel filter under the tractor)...when re-installing the lower shroud I broke the headlight assembly--again. :-( Good thing my grandson wasn't around because he would have learned some new words. I'm telling myself I still would have spent more money having the service done at the dealership in an attempt to make myself feel better.

Anyone else done this, or am I just a total dumbkorpf?

I have had the same problem on my BX24. I haven't replaced it and it still works but sure wish assembly had been metal. As a matter of fact, I would replace it with a metal assembly if the price wasn't too bad.
