Kinda an entailed description. Hopefully not too confusing.

My snow blower is attached to the BX1860 using a Male Quick Hitch and Subframe BX2751, including a mid PTO kit BX2752.

The mid PTO Kit BX2752 has an 11 ½ inch output shaft that is set up to be 5 from tip of shaft to a bearing mounting plate. The shaft is held in place by two allen set screws on each bearing and locktighted in place.

When I removed the quick hitch for storage (winter finally over) I found that the output shaft had moved forward by about 3/8 of an inch. There is no recess in the output shaft for the allen set screws go into, they just engage the surface of the shaft.

My neighbor suggested marking the shaft where the allen screws make contact and dimple it with a drill bit to provide a better locking action. As he is a great mechanic I will probably go with his suggestion unless someone has a better idea. Anyone else have problems with the output shaft moving?

Thanks,

Carl

Sounds like your neighbor has a quick workable plan. Maybe a little blue Loctite on the allen screws.

There IS NO end thrust on that shaft. Check for straight line skid marks on the shaft or maybe the dealer did not have it tight.

Check all clearances before you make any permanent changes.
