Here is a question for BX22/23/24 owners particularly those who live in northern areas. I have been considering buying a BX24 and have a question about snow plowing. With the fan under or near the rear axle have you had or experienced a problem with snow packing in around the fan? Yes, I know about the skid plates that are available and do not think they would prevent snow from getting in around the fan if the tractor was going through deep snow. The question comes from the fact that I got my B7100 hung up on a snow bank this morning and wondered what effect the same situation would have on a BX

I have used my BX23 with front blade a bunch this winter without any issues at all. It was quick and did a good job, plus it was a lot of fun. I don't know your situation but my driveway is about 400' long or so and there is about a 100' stretch that is 15%. The most I plowed this year at once was only about 15" or so. I bought the blade as I thought it would be quicker than a blower and was much less expensive, in fact, I am so satisfied I will probably not consider a blower, at least for next winter.

I have a 2200 and have used it for both snow plowing and blowing......no problem with snow at all in any conditions.

Thats a pretty good chunk of plastic up there for that fan. I think it would take more than just snow to do any damage. Now if you got a decent sized chunk of ice up there, all bets are off, but I think any tractor would be in trouble in that case. I've hitgh-centered my BX several times, in deep drifts, never any issues at all...just used the FEL to back myself out and make the drifts smaller. Fun... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Front blade on a BX23. No problem at all. My drive is gravel & about 450' with an incline at the base. I have turfs, but I put on front bar tires to help with side slippage when pushing a lot of snow with the blade sharply angled. Think about getting the skid shoes if you are not on asphalt. You might want to invest in a good set of winter coveralls.

Not an issue here, either. I use the FEL to do my 150' long, flat, paved driveway. I can't envision driving through deep snow with the bucket up, which is the only way I could see this happening.

I plowed my paved drive fine this winter with my BX23. I used a backblade to push snow to the sides then the FEL to stack it. It worked well, no issues with snow getting close to anything vital, but we only got maybe 8" at a time.

I use a rear blade on my bx-22. I make it a point to not drive through deep snow until I have pushed it out of my way, so no, it is not an issue.
My blade is on this web page

Thanks to all that responded. I have 13 or 14 inches of clearance on the B7100 and I normally just back into a snow bank/drift and drop the back blade to pull snow to where I want it. The last storm, the snow (24") was extermely heavy and dense so when I backed into a drift I actually backed up on it and ended up with my wheels spinning with the B sitting on its rear axle and under carriage. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Looks like I may have to re-think that procedure if I get the BX24.

I have been snowblowing for years now with my Bx in Mich North of Petoskey we are in a snow belt. Only problem ever was snow pluging the screen that covers the battery it is also the intake for the radator. The cure was a removable plate inside on the bottom that let in air again. the only problem with the trans fan is in the woods. sticks get up there and breakit. Its not easy to change. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
