I AM INQUIRING IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO REPLACE THE THREADED TURNBUCKLE ADJUSTMENT ON THE BX2200 LOWER LIFT ARM, WITH THE TELESCOPIC TYPE ON THE B2710/2910? I PERFORMED A SEARCH, BUT FOUND NO ANSWER SPECIFIC TO THE BX 2200.

I JUST RECEIVED MY WOODS M40 CUTTER & PL-48 AERATOR, ORDERED IN MID-FEBRUARY. THE THREADED TURNBUCKLE METHOD PLAIN STINKS WHEN SWITCHING FROM MOWER TO YORK RAKE TO AERATOR ETC.

I JUST HAD CARPAL TUNNEL SURGERY ON MY LEFT WRIST, AND ONE HANDED HOOK-UP AND WRENCHING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE.
SLIDING IN THE LOWER ARMS TO SNUG, THEN DROPPING IN THE LOCK PIN APPEARS TO BE SIMPLE, AND MIGHT SAVE THE RIGHT WRIST FROM A SIMILAR FATE IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW IRRITATING DESIGN FLAWS OF CHANGING IMPLENENTS ON THE BX, ALONG WITH THE LOWER ARM HITCH BALLS STILL BEING TIGHT, AFTER 250 HRS, AND NUMEROUS LUBRICATIONS.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP/INFO YOU CAN PROVIDE.

Walt,
You might want to look at some of the quick hitch systems that are available.

Walt, getting a measurement would be a good excuse to drop by the dealer's. I took measurements on my B7500 and another tractor (2410 I think) and discovered the telescoping ones would fit the 7500. Really glad I got them...........chim

Walt,I've also been thinking about doing the same modification on our BX. Have owned a B-2710 and the telescopic type adjustment of the lower arms is VERY nice compared to what you have now.

I keep the threaded rods lubed with WD-40 so I can turn them by hand, only use the wrench to make final adjustments and to loosen and tighten the jam nuts.

If you can't get the parts from Kubota,I would think they could be made by a good machinist.

As for the balls in the lower arms,I use paint stripper to remove that 1/4" layer of paint off the balls, with the help of a piece of pipe to rotate them.Once you get the paint off, they will rotate much easier.I shoot them every soo often with WD-40 to keep away any rust.

THANKS FOR THE POSTS, I NEVER THOUGHT OF PAINT REMOVER TO LOOSEN THE LOWER ARM SWIVELS, BUT I WILL TRY IT.
IT APPEARS THAT I AM HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION WITH THE TELESCOPIC ADJUSTERS.
I LOOKED AT THE QUICK HITCH SYSTEMS, BUT WOULD RATHER SPEND THAT $$$$ ON MORE IMPLEMENTS.

THE DRESSINGS COME OFF THE LEFT HAND ON TUESDAY, SO A DEALER VISIT AND LOWER LIFT ARM MAINTENANCE WILL FILL THE TIME UNTIL I AM TWO HANDED AGAIN.

THANKS AGAIN

Walt,
Are you typing in all caps because of the injury or did you spill a soda on the keyboard. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Most implements come through with the lift pins pointing out. Some tractors have the check chains (turnbuckles) on the outside of the lift arms and that works well on implements with the lift pins pointing out but some tractors, I the the BXs are this way, have the check chains on the inside of the lift arms and turning your implement lift pins to point in makes hitching up and unhitching a little easier.

I don't think that the telescopic lift arms will eliminate the threaded turnbuckle will they? The threaded turnbuckle limits side-to-side sway. The telescopic lift arms make the arms longer or shorter during hook-up. Correct?
I agree, the threaded turnbuckles are a real pain to adjust. I really feel it in my almost-carpal-tunnel wrists so I can imagine what trouble it is one-handed for a while.

General question: Do all tractors use threaded turnbucles for sway control? What else is there? Chains?

WVBill, the telescoping stabilizers did eliminate the turnbuckles on my 7500. It was a simple matter of removing the turnbuckles and replacing them with the telescoping stabilizers.

The outer part of the stabilizer has evenly spaced holes and a couple elongated slots (I guess for implements you want some "play" in). The holes in the inner piece are unevenly spaced for near infinite adjustment. These things work like magic compared with the turnbuckles....................chim

Now I'm confused (like that's unusual /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif)...
I thought people were saying that the actual lift arms were telescoping - so you didn't have to move the implement or the tractor around so much while hooking up.
Chim - you just described telescoping "stabilizer arms" - or - check chains.

Anyone have pictures you can post?
