Kubota BX 2200
BX2200 with 250 hours. I put the MMM on today and started to cut the grass. RPM drops from 3100 to 2300 when I go forward and then stays at 2800-3000 at full throttle, then dips to 2500-2600 whenever going a up a slight slope or when the grass is particularly thick. What do you thing? Dirty fuel filter, or bad fuel? Or something else? Tractor worked fine doing loader work all morning. Any suggestions? I plan to change the fuel and filters on Monday.

Thanks for your help.

I will notice this if either my blades aren't sharp or if I have the mower deck 1/2" lower than I normally mow. I mowed this morning and the grass was still wet and I had the deck set a little too low and I noticed the same thing right away.

I replaced the air filter and it ran ok. But after about 15 mins same problem. Any ideas?? I checked the oil in the deck before I put it on and sharped the blades. I am cutting at the 4 inch height.

Tom

Have you checked the belt to make sure its all ok? I mow at 2700 rpm all the time, I haven't had the need to run at WOT yet. I move at 3" also.

Matt,

Monday the deck comes off to see what the heck is going on. The more I think about it I think it is the deck and not the tractor. Why after 15 mins does it slow the engine down??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Something starts overheating and binding up? Bearings perhaps?

Have you checked your hydraulic fluid level?

what he said.
The front pto is a different kind of load. If the hydro fluid is low, the drivetrain will slow and take the engine rpms with it.

I mow at 3100 RPM (3.5 inches) and I have never seen my RPM fall below 2800. That includes mowing up steep hills. If it were a spindle or something binding on the deck I would think that you would hear a belt or bearing howling. That is a pretty significant drop in RPMs.

My first thought was that the parking brake was on; until I read that it doesn’t happen until 15 minutes into mowing. I think I am paranoid about leaving the parking brake on! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Hydro oil level is OK checked it before starting the day. I thought the parking brake was on too. Just as I was thinking how stupid I felt about leaving the break on because everything was fine, it started to do it again. The belt seems to have more wobble then usual and I feel a vibration that I do not recall from last year. How do you check the bearings to see if that is a problem? I can not believe with 3 years of use I have a problem. All service done as per the manual even checked the no grease in the spindles problem some have reported, they were full. Any other suggestions??
