Hello Folks,

How often do you have to grease the 60 mm deck? Manual says daily check, but not how often, every 50 hours,?? Also besides the battery terminals, what other areas do you need to grease on the tractor? The FEL says every 10 hours with "Moly EP" grease. Can I use the same grease on the deck and the tractor? The manuals really do not help much!

Thanks

Tom

I suggest you start a maintenance log book so you can keep track of what you do (use the hourmeter) when you do it.

The John Deere operator's manual reccomends greasing all fittings every 50 hours. That, depending upon usage, might be once a year...maybe twice.
I cut these intervals in half...every 25 hours, especially for the steering gear.

I have a BX2200 with 60" deck. I usually hit all of the zerks with a little grease every other time I mow. Which would equate to every 4 to 5 hours of operation. It usually doesn't take much, maybe a 1/2 pump or less to be able to "hear" the old grease starting to squeeze out.
This is the "routine" I've developed to remember to grease. A log book is a good idea too - I use one for my major events such as oil changes, etc.
I use the same grease for loader and deck.

So did I post this in the wrong place or is this a stupid question???, or has this been covered before and I just did the wrong search?

Just wondering????

Thanks

Well, I thought the manuals covered it nicely. I grease my deck generally every other use or after I wash it. I change oil and filter every 50 hours, I grease the loader after every heavy use but if it is just moving some mulch of course not but at least every 50 and after a wash. The tractor itself does not have any zerks excepth for the hydro pedal. Go to an auto parts store and buy some moly grease or pay more for the Kubota brand. The EP means extended life and high pressure or extra pressure or somesuch crap as that--I forget offhand but it is readily avaialble for a standard tube grease gun.
