I am lucky enough to "use" my father in law's bx2230. I need to get a rear blade to maintain my gravel driveway. The driveway is flat. The tractor has the 60" MMM. Since the hydraulics pick up the mower and the rear 3pt at the same time, can I use a rear scrape blade with the mower still attached? He really doesn't want to take off the mower, and I need to respect his wishes. When I lower the blade to scrape, will the MMM be in the way? Thanks in advance.

You can raise the mmm up and lock it with the knob under the seat.

If your drive way is indeed gravel and not dirt you might be better off with a landscape rake than a blade. If there is any way you could borrow or rent a blade before buying it I would suggest that you do so.

My BX picks up the 60" mower and 60" blade at the same time no problem. Also I do lock the deck in the up position once it does pick it up.

Doing quick jobs with the MMM on is fine, but anytime you are going to do any serious work, it should be removed. It literally takes me ten minutes to put mine on and off, time well spend.

I would imagine, that leaving the MM on is an invitation for breaking it.

Thanks everyone. So I can bring the MMM all the way up, lock it, then bring the hydraulics down without messing anything up? Thats great.
Thanks again

I tried what was suggested last night. You are correct, I can bring the MMM all the way up and lock it. However, once you do that the rear blade will not lower. I sure wish they were on seperate hydraulics. Now I am going to have to remove the MMM to get any work done. Thanks anyway.

I don't think you locked it right.
You may have cranked down the speed damper, which would have not allowed either to lower.
There is another knob with number markings on it.
Loosen up the damper knob, raise the deck up, then put the hexagonal knob in the lock position. The deck will be locked up, and the rear 3pt will go up and down.

There are two knobs, the one you want to set is marked in 1" increments for the mower deck height adjustment. This knob also has a "lock" icon on it. It will be the one right between your feet, just below the front edge of the seat.

The knob you adjusted is used to control the lift/drop speed of the deck/3-point. It's a smaller knob, more toward the right. It has two arrows on it.

Check it again. I lock my mower deck all the time when I'm doing 3-point work.

You might find it a little difficult to rotate the knob into the lock position. If you do, just hold the lever in the up position until you can rotate the knob.
