What I don't like about the BX1500.
You can't get off the tractor and leave the engine running without shifting into neutral.
What I do like about the BX1500.
You can't drive it around with the break on.

The brake on your BX1500(s) must be adjusted differently than mine because I regularly make the mistake of driving around with the brake on.

I by passed the neutral safety switch on my 1500. Very easy, problem solved. Not that moving the lever to neutral is any big deal. I by passed mine when I first got it for a different reason.

1. You can't get off either one of your BX 1500s with the engine running?

2. Can you drive either one of your BX 1500s with the brake on?

1*Not unless I shift into neutral first. That goes for both of them.
2*Nope; they won't budge with the brake on.

<< My BX23 operates just the opposite of them on these 2 points.
With It I can dismount the tractor and keep the engine running while it Is in gear. It's a good thing too because if i had to put it in neutral the tractor would roll away because the brake sure won't hold it.
I can also drive it around with the Brake on. >>

You would think the Bx23 and Bx1500 would operate the same on these 2 points since they are very similar or each ether.

The safety hazard about them functioning different from each other is if I should happen to forget or get confused about which one I was operating.

When I added the "switch-er-roo" seat to my BX2230 with the Woods BH6000, it made the seat assembly heavy enough that I can get out of the seat in gear without it notifying the Neutral Safety Police. I suspect that is the case with the BX23 as well. Being able to park it in gear is nice since the brake isn't worth a poop, especially with the BH mounted and on a hill.

No doubt there is a little extra "oomph" to the 23 hp over the 15 to over-ride the parking brake. I have no trouble at all overwhelming the parking brake, it just makes a little more of a whine and stops more resolutely when I let off the treadle.

1*I just went out to the garage and checked out the BX23 and the BX1500 starting procedure.

While standing on the floor I put the seat up on the bx23.
Shifted it into neutral and started it.
When I shifted it into gear the engine kept on running.

2*You can't move either of my BX1500s with the brake set.
Good thing because if the brake was like the brake on the BX23 you couldn'r leave the BX1500 parked and running because it would roll away.
By the same token if the BX23 had to be in neutral to run while parked you couldn't do that because without the transmission to help hold it the tractor would coast away because the break alone won't hold it.
Transmission /brake should never be and either or choice as it should always be both at the same time.

I "cured" my problem of driving with the parking brake on.... Now when I set the brake..I turn on my 4-way flasher! When I climb back up in the seat I can see the flasher going on and off and I release the brake.

When the parking brake is on my BX1500, the tractor absolutely will not move. Seems like a very strong brake, I like it.

My BX23 will move w/the brake on but it moans & groans something terrible until I realize that it's on. :D
It only takes a foot or two before I realize it's on and anymore I can tell that it's set just by looking at it.

I recall that on my TE20 I had to literally stand on the turning brakes to get them to lock up. The tractor would just keep on powering forward if all I did was apply them with leg pressure.

Wonder why the brake works rite on the BX1500s but not on the BX23s????????

I'd say it's due to the increased HP of the BX23. You're talking 7 more HP and much more torque over the 15hp BX1500.
