BX 23 Hood Keeps popping up...

Sounds like the dealer doesn't want to make the adjustment....It is covered under warranty and he should take care of it before damage occurs to either your machine or your persona....
My (BX22) does that when I am trying to close it. Mine also had the hood rattle from help after they put the new air filter bracket on. So I bent the hood, yes, holding both sides and pushed in SLOWLY. Bang, no rattle and the hood also stays shut weird.

Doing a search I came across this post from BPD239 on 2-21-04.

when I went over my 23 with the mechanic at purchase, he had a little difficulty closing the hood. He said the same thing as your dealer. The latch is stiff when new. I have 49 hrs on mine and I check the oil before each start. The first time or two I had to hold the hood down while pushing the hood release lever to the lock position. As my dealer had said it would, It broke in fine and now has a positive latch everytime I close it.
