BX-2350 - Abrupt engagement of mid-PTO

My BX24 (50 series BX) with 54" mmm engages smooth as silk. Same with 3pt snowblower in winter.
I usually engage the pto at about 1500 rpm, mow at 2600 rpm.

I find that a bit odd -- since your BX and mine is basically the same. I didnt realize you had it at full throttle though. I always engage mine at 1200 or so. It not exact science, I just bump it up above idle/non lugging point when using HST. silly question - is the pto selector in MMM only, not in mid and rear?

My original method was to put it at idle during engagement. I've since tried it at around half throttle with much better results. The PTO selector is in the MMM Only position, not mid & rear.

I Have bx25 that is very abrupt at engagement as well. doesn't matter what the rpm is and how easy you engage the pto. The mmm and the rear pto behave the same. I always just figured it was the nature of bx. I agree about the engagement seeming like it is electric. I haven't noticed any remedy on any threads anywhere. I'm sure it will break something someday.

I was wondering the same thing about the proper engagement RPM because my dealer told me not to engage except at just above an idle.
I never just drop the PTO lever but I have noticed that I get a much smoother engagement when the RPM's are up about 2000 or better never at 3000+.

This is one of the few things I don't like about my BX. I've feathered every PTO I've ever owned, but it's impossible to do with this one. I can't say it drives me crazy, but it is annoying.
