Absolutely, as per your manual, is keeping the designed pathway for cool air drawn in a must. I have an air filter restrictor gauge on mine and if I remove the aft facing grill and partially plug that port is it evident how much air the fan is drawing in from the driver's platform. The restrictor immediately goes well into the red. At one point, my temp sensor contact had disconnected from vibration and heat and I was not tardy to correct. I have also changed the coolant on mine to the pink, long life type as it has better cooling properties and corrosion resistance.
