Hello Folks,
A few weeks ago I posted a note about my low hours, (under 200), BX 24 having a Hydro failure. At the time I posted the note I didn't know exactly what had happened, but now I do.
I purchased the TLB from the original owner who also supplied me with all of the service reports from the dealer in FL where he purchased it new. One of the serrvice reports included a warranty repair that was cause from damage to the Hydro fan. The entire hydro unit had been rebuilt under warranty on 4/03/2009 as indicated on the invoice from that dealer. Incidentally, the tractor is a 2006.
So then recently while using the tractor in NC the Hydro gave way and made such a racket that it would have woke the dead. The unit stopped in the field and had to be towed back to my barn. I then had a local and well respected Kubota dealer, Nelson Tractor in Blairsville, GA come and pick it up. I must say that the Shop Foreman at Nelson Tractor, "Tom", was very diligent in communicating with me and staying informed as to the activities of the mechanic who was working on the tractor.
Skip to the important stuff....they discovered that when the Hydro had been rebuilt under warranty by the original dealer who has shops in FL and South GA, one of the thrust bearing assembies that operates against a rotating group of pistons had been installed backwards. Seems that the thrust bearing has two races, one much thicker than the other, that must be installed in the proper order. The thicker race must be installed on the pressure side against the rotating group of pistons. Mine had the thin race installed on the pressure side against the rotating group and subsequently broke in two from the pressure being applied. These two races are visibly different from one another and easily distinguished as "thick" and "thin". When the improperly installed race broke, then the whole shootin' match came apart. Metal everywhere. You outta see the bag of bones I recieved from Nelson.
This one improperly installed race cost me just shy of $2000 on a tractor that does not even have 200 hours on it and less than 30 under my ownership.
I am told that there is not much hope of getting any consideration from either the original selling dealer, (who did the first rebuild and improperly installed the race), or Kubota since I was not the original owner the unit is not in warranty any longer. That may be true but I think it is a grave injustice that I should have to foot the bill for this "documented" improper repair. The shop foreman from Nelson Tractor wrote a statement of his findings and copied the page from the repair manual that shows the proper installation of the race so I want to reach out to the proper people and see if I can get some consideration.
Can anyone here direct me on how to find out the name and contact info for the proper Kubota Rep in the S. Ga and N. FL area? I am going to write to the selling dealer but I would like to cc; the Kubota people so they are informed in the event I take my request on up the ladder.
Any tips on how to proceed with my requests and who to contact at Kubota would be greatly appreciated.
