Does anyone know how this valve works or how to ajust it so it does work

up goes up, down goes down. If down is not dropping at all or is dropping too fast adjust the knob directly between your legs.

The quarter-inching feature is a slow speed up or down, nothing fancier.

Pull up on the lever all the way and the hitch goes up at full speed (dependent on engine speed), push down on the lever all the way and the hitch goes down at the speed determined by the weight on the hitch and how wide open the speed adjusting valve is open. Let go, the lever returns to center, and the hitch stops going up or down.

Pull up about a quarter of the way and the hitch moves up slowly allowing more precise adjustments. There is also a noise on our tractor similar to a pressure relief valve openning. Push down on the lever about a quarter of the way and the hitch moves down slowly. Let go and it stops moving.

I find it a useful feature once I got used to how far to move the lever, but it does require some fiddling.

If you look down into the lever slot you'll see a metal piece with two protrusions facing into the slot. If you pull the lever to the side between these projections and push it either forward or backward the 3pt hitch moves quite slowly. This is to eliminate the trial and error lever positioning to get a slow 1/4 inch movement.

Thanks!!! :D But it won't work on our tractor as is. :( The metal projections are there but the lever shape is such that it won't move over far enough to engage the projections. I suppose it's bent. Also noticed that the positions of the metal projections is adjustable.

After watching the video on the quarter inching valve, I am still having trouble determining why people are claiming that position control is far superior to quarter inching valve?

Is there an application where you really need to make it 1/8" instead of 1/4"? Or am I completely crazy here?

I don't know what all the fuss is either, I've tried PC and it's good, but not good enough for me to spend the extra cash! Never had problems playing with the 1/4 valve. And since my BH is on 95% of the time, the PC is moot for my use anyways! :D
