BX 2670 motor hitting frame

   / BX 2670 motor hitting frame #11
I have a new BX25D that is about 6 months old and have the same issue with 34 hrs on the machine. Right from the start I had a strange knocking sound when mowing. Removed the hood and mowed to find out the mount was hitting the frame. Loosened all the mount to let the engine center itself, for now it is quiet but every once in a while I hear the knock from the mount, only on hills with the left side of the tractor on the downside. The problem will get worse as the rubber mounts wear in more. I am almost ready to grind down the engine mount on the vertical where it is hitting. I previously owned a BX 1860 and loved it, not one problem with 200 hrs on it, it drove like a Cadillac, the BX 25D is like driving a truck. Very disappointed spending this kind of money and have such an annoying problem.

Well I heard from my dealer the other day. Kubota finally got back with him and issued a bulletin repair for our motor mount problem. Kubotas fix, according to my dealer, is to cut 1/4" off the bracket on both sides. Kinda seems like a cheap fix, but apparently some of these motor mount tabs are longer than others. I drilled a hole in the tab and bolted a piece of HD rubber in the gap and everything is smooth on mine for now.

Can you take a picture of where the motor is hitting the motor mount tab?

I just spoke to my dealer and he contacted Kubota service and yes they know about the issue, and no, they are not doing anything about it. They suggested as BDM300 stated you can cut the mount up to 1/4" to keep it from hitting the frame. They stated that the old style mount was getting tweaked because people were putting too much strain on the power train in certain instances. So they beefed up the mounts to solve that problem, while creating another one. Let's see a brand new 20k tractor and a sawzall some how that makes me cringe.... So centering the rubber mounts has quieted down the noise for now but I am sure as the mounts wear I will be looking closer to modifying the mounts. I think the best solution is to support the engine see if the mounts will come out of the frame and shave them down on the bench, paint and reinstall. Wonder what Paul Short would recommend???

I'm not experiencing any of the problems some of you guys are with my BX. That being said I'd like to see some photos of your engine mounts if you could post them. I'll take a few photos of the mounts on mine and post them to make a comparison.
It don't seem like a hard problem to solve but I'd sure like to have an effected unit here in front of me.

I was post #6 on this thread

It was/is interesting to me to see that it is certainly a problem known to Kubota

BUT, it seems they may not be willing to solve it

That is upsetting to me

I started with the BX series and an 18 hp one if I remember correctly. From there I went up in hp each time I purchased the Kubota

In all honesty, quality has dropped with each upgrade in hp that I purchased

Many other things wrong with my 2670 also洋inor stuff and not stuff that affects the performance, but just stuff

All the knobs on the levers can be pulled of easily. The shroud on the right side of the seat broke off, etc. etc

I will look at my motor mounts to see if I can see what the problem is also. I really never looked at them after the dealer came and adjusted them

BUT, they are beginning to make the noise again

And so it goes

Will get some pics this weekend so you can see what is going on. The only time you really notice the noise is if you are mowing on a hill and one side of the tractor is on the downside. I have used the backhoe and bucket with no issues.

Tis true...

Although I don't have a backhoe from mine...

I mow some pretty steep places and it is really noticeable when I turn up or down hill after mowing along the contour...
