Grading BX 54" Blade Hydro Angle Conversion

Been reading along with you guys here. Trying to keep up.

I'll take some photos for you, but I got alot of snow pack on the QH and blade. Also gotta go plow, as it is coming down again.

I absolutely love what Chris fabbed here. He saved a ton of money as well, which was the point.

I'm jealous. But for 3" of slush, I've had no reason to use my new toy, err tool. Looks like you are almost guaranteed a white Christmas. Have fun out there, but be careful. We need those pic's :D

Yes, the ram is attached to the blade, via a sturdy under-carriage of steel bar to support it. Take the blade off, by backing out of the QH and the ram and its support would come with the blade. I have had all this off and on before. The vertical piston is attached to the QH of course. Two hydro lines stay with the plow portion and two lines stay with the QH.

Hope you guys can see from the photos what you want to zoom in and see. It's all black and not easy to get the detail you might want. Gettin' dark.

BP - thanks for the pic's. Finally get to see how that 60 incher is set up. From what I can tell from the pic's, it seems the 60" angle cylinder is mounted not totally dissimilar to how I mounted it on my 54" version except that the 60" version looks to have it's own mounting apparatus connected to the blade only -an under-carriage as you say. Anyway, thanks again. Maybe this will give Andy and others a better idea on how to do the conversion.

Fick,

thanks for the pics. They do help. I guess the B series blade has the most "compact" angling mechanism. The BX 60" that you have almost looks like the ram attaches to the QH like on the 54" conversions. I do see the subframe it attaches to to keep it on the blade apparatus. You could probably weld something like that onto the 54" mechanism if you really wanted to keep it all in one. But its not that big of a problem to remove it. Just have to pull one extra pin. I should be ordering the parts today. I will post pics of the conversion. Might not be till after xmas though (blade is actually a xmas gift :D)

Agreed. I don't think it matters at all, on your builds, where you put what. Not a bit.

Obviously, Kubota needs to keep hydro on the QH sub frame to provide lift for the broom, snow blower, and other attachments. In other words, Kubota's thought is to always divide the hydro lines. 2 go with the attachment and 2 stay on the QH.

On your own build, you could care less about that, until or unless you would want to use your QH for another attachment. Then you'd have to pretty much follow Kubota's plan?

I'd like to thank you all for the ideas and pics. Picked up a used 54" blade and did the conversion. It worked out great. Now I can stay warm in the cab next winter. Special thanks to CHDinCT. I'm a copycat. :D

yooper jim - do you have any photos you can post of your conversion? I've studied the other ones posted here but it would be helpful to see how you attached your cylinder. thanks - Frank

Frank
I mounted mine like CHDinCT did (see first post in thread), only a little higher. That way I didn't have to cut off the flange on top of the hitch box on the blade. It works fine and I have no complaints. I'll see if I can get a pic.

few yrs afterwards reading this post, I;m starting the mod, I;m thinking mounting the ram with the pin downward, rather I'm going 90 degrees (horizontal)so when the blade pivot point gets sloppy(which it will) the ram can pivot whereas if vertical, it cant pivot and will load up and wear the pin attach areas.
