Hi, I just bought a used bagger for the BX, and the way the chute attaches to the deck looks different than the ones I've seen posted on this board by other members. Specifically there seems to be a metal bracket that is used to hold the spring loaded chute open. I've attached the pic of what I don't have. What I have is a chute that attaches with a pin in the rear and a bungee in the front.

1. Question is, did they change this after initial production?
2. Is this something I can add to mine easily?
3. Should I wait to drill the holes to avoid having double holes if ultimately I want to add this bracket?

Somebody help me out here..? Thanks!

My chute attaches with the pin and bungee cord. I will take a picture if you like.

I've never had a problem with bagger. It sucks up everything. It clogged once in 3 years when I was picking up heavy pine needles.

That would be great if you could post up a pic, as I am still trying to figure out how to get it mounted up. What do you think of that bracket? It looks kind of nice (solid and such).

Rogue, here is a picture of my grass chute. The bracket that you showed looks like a better setup to me. However, the pin/bungee works fine.

Yep! That's exactly what I have. I have to attach it yet. I will do that today for a big mow tomorrow. I have WAY high grass and with today’s rain, I will be glad to have a bagger! I'm giddy! What a dork I am to be revved up over a bagger. I've wanted one for the entire 5 years I've owned the 2200. It was the bagger that bade me really like the 2200 over other (smaller) mowers. I finally get to use the rear PTO.

Red Flags in your message. Baggers or lawn vacs typically don't work well in wet grass or tall grass let alone wet and tall grass. You might want to consider waiting until it is dry and then mowing at a high level first followed by a second mowing at your desired final height.

Jack is right. If you see my latest post in your other thread, I had these same conditions. I recommend waiting until dry and start with deck at full lift, making multiple passes and taking off a little at a time. You may still get chute clogging and have to stop engine, clean out chute by hand.

For me, the mulch kit works much better than the bagger did. I still have to do multiple pases on the first cut of the season, but no more clogged chutes, no more emptying bags, and, because the nutrients are returned to the soil, I no longer have to fertilize.

Sorry to rain on your parade. I sincerely hope you have more success than I did.

No worries! My lawn is so choked with thatch and 7" clippings that I suspect I can't do much worse. If it doesn't work out, I sell it. How much can I loose when I paid less than half for an almost new bagger? :)

Had a hard rain this AM and 6 hours of sun. The grass was pretty dry on the out side, but lush with moisure within. In the shade areas, there was some moisure on the outside. Mowed off 6 mags full with no isses. It did make the tractor a lot louder than before. I hadn't expected that, but I guess it seems obvious now.

Anyway, I love it! Pulled the leaves up great!
