Getting past the problems, (one troublesome tractor and some dealer induced minor issues on the replacement tractor) , this BX is alot of tractor for the money.
Drove it around this afternoon. I love it. Definatly glad I got the second one.
Thanks all for your patience and help. Hope it stops raining so I can mow my forest. My craftsman driving brother can't understand how my monster can be SO much quieter than his 18 HP rattlebox.

Roque, it seems I always have to reply to your posts. You must be related to a friend of mine on a non tractor list I belong to cuz you seem so much like him--anyway--glad to hear that all is well, fingers crossed for you.
Yeah, everyone immediantly comments on how quiet the BX is compared to their Craftmans and Murrays and assorted Wallyworld 999.00 dollar specials. Sometimes the guys start frothing at the mouth, drool running all over their Murrays as they go into spastic fits. There is something of a spat going on on that other forum now over insulting Murray owners, has anyone ever thought perhaps that those who purchase nice equipment might be insulted by the insinuation that a Murray would do as well and we just wasted 9000 dollars or more--nah--I guess not. I suppose if one does not want to hear an obvious answer then one should not ask the question-- are Murrays the best dang tractor in the universe? If that is not a ludicrous comparison! Oh, I forgot, they always want a "long lasting one " also for that 999.00.
Anyway, glad to hear you are on the right track. You know what I did--ashamed to admit because I am so careful--I changed my oil and installed a new filter and then added three quarts, checked the dipstick--no oil--WHAT!!!!!---oh good grief--I did not reinstall the stupid drain plug. That is why when we work on airplanes we keep the manual in front of us even if the work has been performed a 1000 times before--good thing I checked the dipstick before starting--at least my training (luck--blind luck) saved me there. That is also why (at least for my own part) I always check the log to make sure one or two people flew for one or two hours before I rent a plane after its hundred hour!! ;^)
Theres no doubt that this is an awesome peice of gear. The older it gets and the less worried about it I become, the more usefull it will become.
Funny that people will spend 3000 to buy a PC to research which tractor is the best, then they buy a 999 tractor. In a year the PC is worth 400 and the tractor probably 600 at best.
What sold me on the Kubota was my boss. He bought a bota for 7500 8 years ago and he told me he could probably get 7000 for it if he wanted to sell it. In the mean time we get to use these monsters. My freind is coming over in 30 min to help me set up the deck. He did his and it was WAY out.

Saw new BX used mowing the lawn around work. It had a belly mower and loader installed. It looked like one heck of a nice machine!

Kubota's do hold their value very well. We had a used Kubota which we traded in for the BX. They allowed us $3500 for the 16 yr old used Kubota that had an original cost of $7000.

Find me a 1985 car worth half it's value...or even worth $3500.

Myles

How about an 1985 corvett, red with leather interior, T top?

Myles, in 1994, I sold my 1972 Chev half ton p/u for 300 bucks more than I paid for it in 1972. I drove that truck for 160,000 plus miles and got paid $300 22 years later for doing it. Now I find that hard to beat, but I did double my money on my old L175 Kubota!
