agreed also. I also know that GM is not using Dexcool anymore also. Too many problems..

But I would make sure you use a good EG coolant conforming to GM6038M and defined by ASTM specification D 4985.

I use Sierra coolant in my equipment I use around the house. It is supposed to be non-toxic to pets and animals.
I've had several leaks and no cats belly-up on the porch....yet!

I'm new here and had a question on this very subject. Should a coolant additive be added as with a normal diesel or do the smaller engines not have cavitation problems. Sorry to cut in on the thread but I run a diesel pickup and when I or anyone else I know does a coolant change, there is a conditioner either added to the coolant or is already mixed in (as with the CAT stuff). Just curious. Chris

I managed to kill my tractor way back and had the dealer send a service guy out. Turned out that I'd somehow hit some brush or something that opened the drain valve on the coolant system and the engine died of heat starvation /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif.

(I am somewhat surprised that it still works, but that was over 500 hours ago, still going strong.)

Anyway, the service guy is quite knowledgable (having grown to know these folks over the years) and he told me that the proper mix for Kubotas, and especially the B series, need glycol based coolant (green poison stuff) mixed 50/50 with distilled water.

And yes, you should change it every two years according to Kubota's official "Workshop Manual Tractor". Darn, now I have another "to-do" item - mine's overdue /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif...

Get a better dealer to service your tractor.

I suppose I'll do it myself and save th delivery fee. Since they don't take it seriously, I doubt that they would even do the job. Just top it off and hand me a bill. I trust no one anymore. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
