Did anyone else catch that news story last night about the fellow who is driving his lawnmower back and forth across the USA? I looked up expecting to see a JD like the guy in the movie that was out last year. Holy Cow it was a BX2200! With Mower deck and sunshade. Guys name I think is Dave Hatter. Anybody know where he is now? Would love to hear some durability reports! And I'm thinking about tire tread loss driving my L35 down the street on the pavement for 1/4 mile! Kubota should jump on this with support. Maybe I'll drive my BX out and say hi! He only hits 9mph, sounds like a special gear conversion for that HST is needed, although e brakes and suspension, or lack thereof might be a problem!

Del, there was a prior discussion about this guy, and some of us have wondered where he is now. I don't think I've heard anything about him since he was in Alabama.

Del - The latest I could find out about him is at http://www.stmbt-pilot.com/section/frontpage_lead/story/5925.

As of September 30, after 122 days, he was in Colorado Springs and still going. The article says he gets 78 miles to a tank of fuel. Unfortunately the guy who wrote the article, after saying the "mower" burns diesel fuel, still couldn't resist calling the tank a "gas tank". Ah, the joys of the uninformed media...

MarkC,

Here's an excerpt from that article...read closely, I did not change it!

<font color=red>Hatter began his lawn mower odyssey in Portland Maine, where he bought the lawn mower, a green Kuboto Bx 2200 with a 22 horsepower engine. On the front of his mower, Hatter hung a sign that reads "Racing Across America."</font color=red>

Does Kubota come in a new color now?????/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Nope, JimBinMI. Haven't you ever had any dealings with newspaper reporters? I have, and only on the rarest of occasions does one get details of a story straight./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Bird always believes in giving everyone the benefit of the doubt.

Remember this was the guy that thinks you get diesel fuel from a gas pump.
