Ballast BX, FEL, and rear weights

/ BX, FEL, and rear weights #11
I'm pretty sure I'm going to build the home-made poured quick-crete 3pt counterweight myself (found the top link piece this weekend when cleaning up the back of my property!). My question is how much weight? I've got a BX2200 with a LA211. Use it for moving logs, brush, mulch, and dirt, the latter probably the heaviest load.

Thanks,

You definitely need weight on the back, it is not safe to operate the FEL without it. I recommend a dedicated weight box instead of just hangin a random farm implement on the back.

I have a weight box for my BX2200 that attaches to the 3 point hitch. See the attached photo. I also use it for carrying tools, garden stakes, etc. so it is like a cargo box for the BX. For ballast, I fill it with bags of concrete mix or mortar. It is very useful to have a big box on the back to carry stuff even when I don't have the FEL attached. Note that mine has a tow hitch on the back. Also, a valve so you could fill it with water.

Thanks for all of the input - a wealth of information exists in this group! I'll take delivery Monday and already have some FEL work lined up. I won't have rear weights to start with, but I'll start looking for something to add.
