For rough ground, I would suggest a rear brush cutter (e.g. bush hog). They are made to stand up to hitting obstructions on rough ground whereas a finish mower isn't.
I know the comments about suspended vs ground contact wheels is correct. However, I have never liked the uneven cut from a suspended mower. My B2710 MMM always rides on the ground. It's got 500 hours of mowing duty on it. YMMV
