I got my BX back from it's invasive surgery (main fuel tank replacement). I asked the dealer to find a weight kit and get it on before he brought it back to me because it's just plain skittish with the loader full. He selected a New Holland 3PH attachment and semi-circle weights. The paint matches perfect. It is very compact. Holds 250 plus the bracket, so lets say 280 lbs. It would hold more but he reversed the pins due to the BX's smaller arms (won't spread all that wide). Overall it's a nice rig for around $250.00

Rogue,
I believe we have the same NH unit (I replied to a post of yours a few weeks ago on this subject). Contrary to what some think, when the pins on the hitch arms are mounted in the "outside" position, the arms will open up far enough to mount traditional category I implements. Because the hitch arms are shorter than on the larger B series tractors, it is more difficult, but can be done. You just have to unscrew the locking nuts on the check chains pretty far and then the arms can be pulled out. I mention this because when you have a max. heavy load in the FEL, 250 LBS may not be enough. By moving the pins to the outside position, you will be able to mount 1-2 additional 50 LB weights, for total of 300-350 LBS.

I can't seem to find it. I thought it was under my counter weight post. It probably is the same one.

I just wanted to let you guys know about a real cheap and easy way to add counter weight to the back of tractors. I built a box out of 3/16" metal which is 20"x14" by 24 inches tall. Mounted the nessesary brackets for my three point hitch, and then added the cheapest weight you can buy. 80Lb concrete bags that sell for around $2.75 - $3.50 a bag.

I left the concrete in the bags so that I could take them out later if I ever need to. Just for your information regarding ballast for front-end loaders. JD recommends 650Lbs. of ballast behind my JD425. Of this 650, 250Lbs. needs to be on the rear axle (wheel weight and tire ballast, ie. pump your own windshield washer solvent) and the rest on the three point hitch.

The box weighs in at 100Lbs. and then I added 4 bags of concrete for a total of 420Lbs. just on the three point hitch, plus the 250Lbs. on the axle. I use my loader just about every weekend and I can't image not having the ballast on the rear.

Am I the only person here that can't (doesn't) just run out to the garage and weld scrap metal in to an implement? Heck, seems like everyone just welds something out of an old water tank.

you said
tire ballast, ie. pump your own windshield washer solvent

While it doesn't freeze, Everyone should be aware of how flammable it is. This should not be used as a tire ballast liquid.
