Nazud, how do you get that from what I wrote? I said I went to Mobil 1 at 50 hours and also installed Mobil 1 at my 100 hour and at my 150 coming up I will install Mobil 1. I do not think it would cause damage to install synthetic during break in but I do feel it would be better not to but it is not really a big deal either way. Why waste perfectly good Kubota oil--so I ran mine the 50 hours and then made the change. J

Dunno, maybe I brain farted . It said after the break in change which is 50 hrs. I run Mobil 1 in my GMC Truck so I know the great quality of the oil, Maybe I should stick to what I know and run it in my BX too. I just like to check out all my options first. Hell, it took me 8 months to decide on which tractor, let alone which oil to use/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I will prolly do the same at the first service too. Thanks for the advice.

<font color=blue>What does "prolly" mean?</font color=blue>

I think that's another brain fart (or finger fart on the keyboard). I read it as "probably". /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Is Mobil 1 an oil that you would use 3 quarts of, or is it like slick 50 where you just add 1 quart to the standard oil?

Roque, Mobil 1 is nothing like Slick 50. It is a synthetic based oil and is used 100%. It is acceptable to mix it but why? except in an emergency. Yes, the oil level is acceptable at the half way point. I am not telling you to use Mobil 1 or Amsoil just cuz I do, a quality oil changed frequently is fine and I think Mobil's synthetic--for diesels--Delvac is probably overkill for a light tractor engine but would be fine also. Always change the filter.
The metal filings in the strainer at the pick up tube are normal during breakin, be sure to remove it and clean it at 50 hours. They should become less numerous as the transmission get's some time on it. Five hours on the 'bota today and nearly 12 hours total this weekend--time to change that oil again! J

TRESCROW:
Just read the thread on formulas.
Geesh, If I'd worked that out before I bought the BX I'd of ended up with a big L.
Probably would of killed my wife when I set the deck on her foot!!!!! ;^)

So is it ok to use synthetic oil in these small tractors before 100 hrs? I started running synthetic 15w-40 in a f350 PSD at 2500 miles and the truck seems to run just fine. I think that there may be some truth to the idea that they just brake in slower with synthetic oil. Is the 15w-40 weight ok for the small diesel? Rich.
