Every time I see a wire or some sort of other connector that's not in use, I always have to wonder what option or use is that for? Per a previous discussion on adding lights to ROPS (in the old forum), I know that the unused wire under the seat is pretty much common to the Kubota's (but I don't think it was ever resolved as to why it was there). But today for the first time, I noticed one in my engine compartment. The wiring harness that transverses the compartment has a white wire exiting by the air filter housing. Has a male end and goes nowhere. (I looked around for a female adapter, couldn't find one. Figured it may of come off). So, any guesses on what it may be used for?

I still haven't received my on-order shop manual yet, if and when it ever shows up there will probably be a wiring diagram in it which should show where they mystery wires go or a least what they are supposed to go TO.

Optional electric replacement for cup holder that provides heat? Maybe the power connector for the upcoming air bag option I hear so much about on the bigger tractor posts!

On some Kubota tractors, there's a light that tells you when the air filter gets clogged. If your tractor doesn't have this light, yet uses the same harness as one that does, you'd have a wire right where you say yours is. I don't know if this is the answer, but it's a possibility. You could check to see if the other end of it is behind the dash panel, but this is probably more trouble than it's worth...

Did you order your shop manual from the dealer?
Do you mind telling how much?
Thanks

Mark; Given the location of the wire, I would say you have a good theory. (I had first looked all around the filter housing for a female connector, figuring that is where it had come off).

Del; From your responses, it tells me that yours are the same way (which puts my mind at ease that it's not suppose to be connected to anything). The cup warming sounds good, but given the temperatures around here this past week, I would rather opt for a beverage-cooling feature. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. And yes, like rgd, I would also be interested in the cost, and (after you receive it and have time to scan through it), if you think it was worth it.

RGD, my L4310HST shop manual was $50 from my dealer.

Gee, the shop manual for my '98 B2400 runs more than $85. I have not yet gotten it because of the expense. I wonder why the difference...

The shop manuals and parts manuals are really good on the Kubota models I have seen. Certainly worth $85. I have been trying to get a set, but they are just not available for the new 2000 M Series yet.
