Bx Problem-Has anyone heard of this?

The bx1500 has been parked for about a week. Then just yesterday, out the door at 5:00am going to work (very dark out) I look down the drive and see orange and yellow flashing lites. What the heck?? Here is the Bx flashing its hazard lites. The key is off, the hazard lite switch is off. I turned the hazard switch on then off and the lites stopped. 20 seconds later they start flashing again. So I took the cable off the battery and went to work. When I got home I hooked the battery back up and the lites started flashing again with the switch and key off. I removed the wires to the flasher relay, lites are out. Is this one strange?

You have a bad switch, I've seen a few cases of this.

I had a similar problem with my 2230. It had just been in for service so I called the dealer. They said that it could be condensation build up and to use a blower to help dry it out. I removed the front dust cover and aimed the blower at the console for a few minutes. It did the trick. Hasn't happened since. Seems kind of like an odd problem though. Give it a try and maybe it'll help.

I had this problem temporarily after hosing my BX off and getting the dash wet.

I've never had that problem with my BX2200 but a friend of mine has. He has a BX2230 that is normally parked in a garage. A few months ago he left it outside for a few days because he was painting his garage floor. One evening he went to bed and could see amber flashing lights coming from his driveway. He went out to the tractor and flicked the flasher switch and all was OK. When he got up in the morning they were flashing again. He replaced the switch and it didn't happened again; even though the tractor was outside for a few more days.

My BX1500 headlight switch has failed to work twice. Each time it was dust inside the switch. Don't know about the flasher switch, but the headlight switch has three or four holes in the bottom that let dust and moisture in. Odd since they put a rubber gasket near the top of the switch to seal it from above. Last time I sealed the holes with caulking. We'll see if that cures the problem permanently.

The switches are easy to remove and disassemble/clean. After removing the wires from the terminals on the bottom of the switch, just pry gently around the switch flange on the top of the dash while pushing from below; it is just a friction fit in the hole. Then you will see plastic clips on each end of the switch that can be pryed away to let you get inside the switch. Clean and dry the contacts inside and spray with a light coat of WD40 (trivia: WD stands for "water displacing") and reassemble.

Yeah, my '05 BX-23 did it after a good washing. Headlights would come on too. Took switches out and let them dry-out upside down.

Silly as ****, switches aren't waterproof. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Same problem. Replaced the hazard switch.

Do you need to remove the black dash board where the switch is mounted, or just pry the switch up and out?
