I've come to conclude that tearing up a yard with these tires on small light tractor like this is a myth

Do you have these tires on your tractors? Ive never run them so I have no clue, just heard they will tear up lawn easy.

2*just heard they will tear up lawn easy.
1*I have them on my BX23 and one of my BX1500s.
The new BX1500 has turfs and I tore up more places in the yard with it than I have with both the other tractors.
2*What you don't hear is how much weight and how wet soft the ground has to be to tear it up with ags.

There are a lot of misconceptions and half truths in the AGs damaging yards tale.

Congrats on your purchase. Steve and Grady are great to deal with. I started with them 5 years ago. The hat thing is a trick. They suck you in with a free hat. Then each purchase adds another hat so buy second machine and get 2 hats, buy 3 machines and get 3 hats. I got 15 hats from them last year as I bought my 4th, 5th and 6th tractor from them.:) After thinking about it I'm not sure I got my 3 hats when I bought the 3rd machine?! As I've said before they are "good ole boys" just trying to make a living and they "ain't from New York City".:) And Velda ain't bad to look at either but she'd be tougher to deal with so stay with Steve or Brady to make the deal.:)

Dam! he never offered my son and I a cap. Great experience working with Brady when we purchased our B26 way up here in MA, but now I'll have to chase him for a hat as both my son and I are hat collectors. He has been super good to us in many other ways so I guess I'll have to forgive him for not offering us a hat.:)

I was happy to get the Ags - I have more leaves than I can deal with most of the time, plus a lot of soft ground from all the )(*(&)^%$$%^ moles that seem to all migrate to my location. Combine that with the wet fall and spring conditions here and it is a mix for wheel spin. I have lots of places during wet times of the year I cannot go in a 2WD pickup with positraction. Not that the ground is rough, but once the wheels spin they rip any vegetation off and you are on muddy soil.

Turfs would be next to useless for me too much of the year. Bars would be better, but all in all I prefer the Ag tread. I noticed that Firestone has what they call a Forestry tread that looks very promising. I may check them out when (long from now) it is time to replace. I know that out old Massey Ferguson 65 with Ag treads never caused us objections on the same ground.

1*A spinning turf tears things up more than a non spinning AG/BAR.
2*Exactly How I tore up places in my yard with the BX1500 with turfs on it.
3* Bars AGs and R1s are all the same thing ;just different names to call them.

Some people call R4s bars.

CONGRATS,ITS just like mine.Ihave ags and they dont bother my lawn.Idont mow with mine ,but i haul my firewood to the woodshed, and drive all over the lawn, and never noticed a thing.Only trouble ive had ,other than water in my fuel, was that broken airfilter strap, yours will break too, everyones does. When it happens ill give you some pics of a simple mod,and it will never break again.Did i mention that you practically stole it for that price?:DYou wont be sorryfor getting it,have fun

I had a BX2230 for 5 years...I had both sets of tires, turfs and bars (ags). Once I put the AGs on it seemed I hardly ever took them back off....I'm guessing they were on 90% of the time I owned it. I mowed, removed snow, and did other various yard tasks with the machine. Turfs are really only good for mowing....any loader work and they just spin. once they spin, they tear the heck out of your yard as previously mentioned.

Its just easier to have the AGs on year round....say for instance, you put the turfs on to mow, and then you decide you want to level a spot in the yard with the loader. Its just not convenient to switch tires for that one small job, (especially if loaded) but you will quickly realize that digging and grading dirt is very tough without the traction of the ag tires. Once those turfs load up, they are slicks and useless.

Have fun with the tractor!

Great story on Barlow's...I wish I had checked them out before buying my last machine, I didn't read on here enough. :)
