I've seen several threads on the Bro-Tek bolt on thumb and a few on the Wallenstein but not much mention of the Extreme Metal Products offering. I have a Woods Groundbreaker BH6000 on my BX2200 and was wanting to add a thumb and wound up choosing the EMP product and I must say that I'm very pleased with the quality of this unit. I got a chance to use it today and it performed admirably as the picture demonstrates.
I chose this over the Bro-Tek version because I plan to use it for moving downed trees and liked the wider jaws for this purpose, especially since I have only the 12" bucket and no ripper. Also, i was looking at 4-6 weeks for Bro-Tek but I bought the EMP on Amazon.com and had it in 4 days! The price was just a bit more with shipping than the quote with Bro-Tek but the lack of delay more than made up for that.
The only down side to the EMP is that you are pretty much on your own as far as installation goes. No instructions in the box or on their site, although there are some pictures of installed units and a video you can watch to get some ideas. It would have been nice to know what to torque the bolts at, for example, and the orientation of the top plate.
All in all I give the EMP thumb a :thumbsup::thumbsup:
