I know nobody wants to think about snow, but I have too. I have new Kubota snowblower for my BX2200. Instead of using the empty lever slot available, they gave me a 4 way valve on a heavy duty pedestal to operate the lifting of the blower. I think it is the same one the loader uses. It's overkill. I'm going to have to buy a loader so my neighbors won't make fun of my 50lb hydraulic valve and external hoses. Anyway, there does not appear to be any float position in the hydraulics. It will raise the front wheels easily, but it doesn't appear to float. I will have to operate the lift cylinder constantly for grade changes, and I have lots. Either I missed something or some engineer didn't do his homework.

Also, if the valve lever is pulled all the way down (raise the blower), nothing happens. There is a position just short of all the way down that lifts the blower, but it is sometimes hard to find in a hurray. Doesn't feel right. Any ideas?

Jeff:

I'm not nearly the expert as the other guys but could it be that your valve is hooked up backwards.

Sounds like when you pull the valve all the way down to raise the blower, you are actually going into the float detent. And the position just short of all the way down would be the position for the down-pressure.

Conversely, when you lower the blower there is no float because there is not normally a float position in the raise function.

I agree with WVBill. The value is upside down and the hoses are reversed. There should be one position when pulling the lever down (or towards you) and it should lift. There should be two positions pushing the lever forward. The first should be power down, and the second is the float position. The lever should stay in the float position when moved there, but should spring back to center from all other positions.

That's the way it is on the joystick control for my loader on the BX2200. The blower hasn't come in yet -- but it uses the same control.

Do you mean your's is set up the way I described or is it set up upsidedown like Jeff's snow blower?

Are you saying the loader control on a BX has power-up followed by float (pulling lever towards you) as opposed to power-down followed by float (pushing the lever away from you).

That would be different.

Hayden, mine is as you described. Forward (away from you) has 2 positions -- the furthest forward position being the float position.

OK, that's how all the loaders I've used work, but my experience is limited to Kubotas.

I just got mine back with the snowblower installed. I bought one of the early BX2200's from a new Kubota dealer. At the time of purchase, he did not know a 4 way valve was required. Since I told him from the start that I would be adding the blower, he exchanged the valve - no charge. He agreed we were both learning then. Anyway, mine is still the same as it always was. The float is up or away from you. Sounds like this one is installed backwards - if it would actually work that way.

Well, I have to change my post. My loader is not the "same as it always was". My new 4 way valve was blowing hyd. fluid straight out the bottom when I went to use the loader this weekend. The dealer is coming to get it this morning, but I lost a weekend of work... uh fun I mean.
