(I actually posted this under Kubota owning by accident, sorry if you are seeing it twice)

In my quest for a rear tiller to counter-weight my FEL as well as to till (obviosly), I'm up between the Befco T30 and the Kubota B40C. Specs are as follows:

Kubota B40C (ROTARY TILLER) $1450
Shaft driven Adjustable rear level High carbon, heat treated steel tines Built-in safety torque limiter (whatever the heck that is? shear pin, clutch, who knows?) Heavy duty chain drive
Tilling Width 37.0" (940mm)
Tilling Depth 6.0" (152mm)
Drive Type Chain
Lift Control Hydraulic
Overall Width 42.2" (1073mm)
Overall Height 23.6" (600mm)
Length 21.3" (540mm)
Ground Clearance 7.0" (178mm)
Weight 255 lbs. (116kg)

or

Befco T30 (ROTARY TILLER) $1400
manual side shift.
16-30 HP (12-22 KW)
540 rpm
42"
Smooth manual side-shift system which requires no lever to operate. Adjustable side skids for working depth control.
Reinforced lateral #60 chain drive transmission in oil bath.
High carbon steel round rotor shaft allows for a deeper working depth. Outward turned blades keeps the rotor supports clean and maximizes working depth.
Highly engineered & rugged gearbox.
Four knives per flange. Heavy duty full size tiller blades.
Outward turned blades keeps the rotor supports clean and maximizes working depth. Drive line with SHEARPIN coupling.

The only real questions I can formulate are, does the Kubota tiller have a shear pin or clutch driveline saftey. And does anyone know who is making Kubotas tiller?
Any other thoughts on the decision would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Rogue

I don't know about the relative merits of these devices as rototillers, but 225 lbs strikes me as too little ballast to counter a bucket full of gravel. I have been using either a 500 lb box scraper or my 8B backhoe and I'm much happier with the loader when the backhoe is on.

The bX wont lift all that much weight with the FEL, I think 500lbs is all it lifts.

I bought a 40" sovema tiller with slip clutch for $1090.00 for my BX, it has worked great maybe you should look at them.
