BX Turf Tires; To Slime, or Not To Slime, that is the question?

Here in Texas, we have a lot of pointy plants, like Mesquite, Osage Orange, etc. So, most of my inflatable tires wind up with about a pint of Slime in them.

Now, my land is pretty cleared, but some pointy stuff is still out there.

Should I just go-ahead and slime the turf tires on my new BX2660, or are they tough enough to survive without it?

Many of us here on TBN have used Slime and love it. Most of us BX owners have at least one leaky front tire from purchase and Slime has resolved most of these issues. I've had Slime in my front R4's for 3 years now and no flats (knocking on wood really hard).

I picked up a nail in one of the rear turfs on my old BX1860 and used slime to "fix" it, but that only lasted about a year and it started leaking again, so I put a plug in the hole. Maybe I didn't add enough. Didn't use a full bottle. With your situation, I might go ahead and add it 'cause the only other permanent solution would be foam filled tires - not cheap and from what I read can give you a rough ride.

My rears are filled, but I slimed my fronts, and yes, one of them leaked before I slimed them.

I resigned from the BX One front flat turf tire club last year when I traded off my BX2660 with turf tires. (Dealer tubed my one flat front per my request on Warranty on the BX2660). My BX25 with R/I4's is now after one year losing some air in one front tire. I'm considering Slime again or back to dealer for Warranty tube again. Not decided.

Put me in the slime group too.. I just slimed my fronts few days ago. I never had issue till last year and I cleaned the bead and put new valve stems in and added bead sealer. all was good till last week. I decided that I was gonna slime them and see how long it lasts. I am not a fan of slime, for for 20 bucks after rebate from autozone for a gallon, I would have plenty leftover for other tires. :thumbsup: Time will tell if it works good. so far tire is holding.... but not gonna hold my breath :laughing:

I have mixed feelings about Slime. I used to like it but I've recently had a couple of punctures it just wont seal.

I have a mate who is a professional mower man and he has to mow in some terribly rough areas. Whenever he gets a new ride-on or new tyres he always gets the tyres filled with stuff the lawnmower shop recommends. He doesn't know what it is but he remembers its applied using a caulking cartridge gun. He absolutely swears by the stuff. He's had no punctures in about 4 years and he mows every day.

It took me ages of googling to find a tyre sealant that is applied as described but I finally found this stuff ...STS Sealant. The sealant chart.pdf shows stuff in a cartridge.
Anybody know anything about it?

Used it on my old BX22 and now the newer BX24. The tires on the 24 are poor. Have it in all since all leaked from objects of my the valve stem...I would NEVER NOT use it.
